Presented at the end of 2005, the Ferrari F430 Challenge made its debut in the Pirelli Trophy reserved for the cars of the Maranello company the following year. Derived from the 8-cylinder road berlinetta, it maintained both its appearance and the 4.3-liter 490 hp engine in a central position, while adopting obvious modifications aimed at racing use. To fully exploit the potential of the engine, the fifth and sixth gears were modified. Weighing 1,225 kg (excluding fuel), with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm, this rear-wheel drive car with an aluminum tubular chassis was characterized by the extensive use of Lexan for the windshield and carbon fiber for some engine parts. The Ferrari F430 Challenge had 19” Pirelli slick tires. This model took over from the Ferrari 360 Challenge (which joined it on the track during the 2006 season), to be used in the monomake series until 2011, before giving way to the "458" model.
