Must turn the water off.
The washing machine occasionally fills with water and then not continue to the next cycle. This is the lid switch that occasionally sticks. It is an inexpensive part that is easy to change and is located under the top panel just above and outside of the tub. Or the lid can simply be opened and closed to continue with the wash cycle (temporary, manual fix).
