Description:

Dusso, also known as Leon D’Usseau, was a talented artist born on March 21, 1918, in Los Angeles, California. His artistic journey began under the guidance of his father, who was one of the early fine art directors in motion pictures. Dusso’s passion for drawing blossomed when he was just twelve years old, and by the age of fifteen, he had already received a working scholarship at the Chouinard School of Art in Los Angeles. There, he even taught a quick sketch class in life drawing.

After spending eight years as a make-up artist at M.G.M., Dusso felt a growing need for deeper personal expression. This led him to abandon his lucrative occupation in favor of a more spiritually rewarding path. His oil paintings have left a mark in both the art world and the entertainment industry. Notably, his artwork was used in the making of the film “Man in the Grey Flannel Suit”, the film “Anything Goes”, and even appeared in the Perry Mason television series starring Raymond Burr1.

Dusso’s artistic legacy lives on, and his contributions to Western art continue to inspire. His work reflects a blend of skill, creativity, and a desire for personal expression. Whether capturing jungle scenes or exploring the human form, Dusso’s paintings resonate with viewers, inviting them into his world of visual storytelling.
